Todd and I just celebrated our 1 year anniversary in New York with some of his family (our real anniversary isn't until November 6 but we wanted to go to New York and they were kind enough to show us around!). The first night we got there we went to the Mary Poppins Broadway Show. It was incredible! The scene changes were unbelievable. One minute they would have a 3 story house on stage and the next minute it was set up as a park! I loved it! Then we were off to walk around Time Square! There were so many different people, it was so overwhelming!
The next day we were off to The Statue of Liberty. Man she is big! It was a beautiful boat ride out but a bummer because Todd and I dropped our camera and it broke! The rest of the trip we were begging Robert (Todd's dad) to borrow his camera (thanks for being patient and letting us always borrow it!). After that we walked around the finicial district and saw Ground Zero and there plans for re-building the seven bulidings, wall street, and alot of other important BIG buildings!
The next day we just did alot of walking and shopping, mostly on 5th Avenue! We went into the Abercrombie and Fitch and there was a BEAUTIFUL model there letting people take pictures with him (probably the highlight of my vacation shhhhhhh! don't tell Todd! haha)
We did alot of waiting for the subway but I loved it! I loved walking everywhere and always being able to hop on the subway, a life style I would love! I hate driving!
One of the most incredible things we did was a tour called "Top of the Rock". You get to go on top of the Rockafella Center. We went right before the sun was setting so we got to see the sun set up there and then all the city lights go on. It was breath taking!
After we went on top of the Rock we did a carriage ride through Central Park. What an experience! Christian, Todd and I were in one carriage and Robert and Denise rode in another one right next to us! Their tour guide had a few to many drinks and was pretty out of it! He was hilarous and gave us some pretty faulty information about the city!
The next day was there last day in the city so we went shopping on Canal street! What a joke that place is. I LOVE IT! Words can not describe! After we walked to Little Italy, China Town, and over to West Village to the Magnolia Bakery for cupcakes! (The cupcake bakery on Sex and the City, its pretty famous and so so so busy. I made my own decision about it and decided it's over rated. Only 3 flavors of cupcakes! There was nothing special about them, Todd could have baked better ones!)
We took the subway out to the Yankee Stadium for a tour. Im not big into sports like Todd but after touring it I am sad that they are tearing it down! There is so much history there! I think they shoud make it into a museum. (We also toured through The Madison Square Garden but we didn't have a camera). My favorite was the locker room....I got to see A-rod and Derek Jeeters locker! Sorry no pictures, they were not allowed! :(
On our last day we went for a nice walk through Central Park and that night we went back to Time Square. We didn't really know what to do so we randomly decided to buy tickets to The Little Mermaid Broadway Show. It to was incredible and I loved it! It was not as good as Mary Poppins but I would definatly recomend it!
Oh New York how I miss thee!
